MRSA (Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus) is a rapidly progressing bacteria that attacks the soft tissue area
of the skin and can become systemic by entering the blood stream
endangering joints and vital organs. MRSA is a major concern today as
strains of bacteria have developed a resistance to the most common
antibiotics used for treatment. MRSA is typically spread via contact
with infected skin or infected surfaces and can live for months on your
skin, surfaces and fabrics if left untreated.
Some key facts:
MRSA can live on your skin, in your clothing, in your environment and
on surfaces for months if untreated. MRSA can be transmitted from surface to athlete, athlete to surface,
athlete to athlete, health care professional to athlete and from your
environment such as textiles, etc. You must clean and protect your surfaces with products like Cavicide
and SilverClene. Your athletes must practice good hygiene and wash and shower with
